We are all excited about the new refresh from the 5 year running 991 GT3 Cup. For season 2018, this world renowned race car gets a full revision on power, drivetrain, and much more. In this feature let’s dive deep into the details of the New Porsche Carrera GT3 Cup 991.2.
First key upgrade must be the New Engine! The layout being a Porsche stayed arrogantly at the rear (which is no bad thing if you ask me), but the displacement has been increased by 200cc to 3,996 cc, with power increased from 460hp to 485hp.
Then comes the new improved gearbox, as Porsche Carrera Cup driver will record, the 991 pedal shift system gearbox was no slouch. New gearbox housing design, bracket, optimised mechanical limited slip differential, the run time has been increased from 30 hours to 60 hours! A gearbox that doubled its runtime!!!
Lets not stop there, the 991.2 also come with; New rear cross bar for efficient drivetrain positing, optimised brake line routing, additional driveshaft cooling on outside joint, improved steering rack position and fixation, electro-hydraulic power steering with external control function, tire pressure monitoring system, brake sensors and steering sensors, derivative sensors & harness for retrofitting an ABS system, dash upgrade with fault diagnosis function and graphic, generator with 175A, CAN connection for video system, 2 additional switches in centre console, yaw rate sensor, new position fire extinguisher control box, new integrated rain light design, enhanced chassis loom, new safety cage design, enlarged removable roof section for FIA safety regulations, improved protection for rear cast aluminium sub frame, modified front and rear end, shock absorbing roll cage safety cover for leg protection, even new door handles.
To sum up, the New Porsche Carrera Cup 991.2 will even be faster yet have a lower running cost. One of the great thing about racing in Porsche Carrera Cup has just got even better!
